8 higher education institutions receive $21M in endowments

More than $21 million has been endowed to eight colleges and universities to fund new research professorships across the state.

The endowments, made through the Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative , will help increase innovation and spur research in scientific and technical fields across higher education institutions. Specific fields of study in this round of funding include biological sciences and chemistry; immuno-oncology; environmental archaeology; and more.

The schools receiving the matching funds are Goucher College; Hood College; Johns Hopkins University; Morgan State University; the University of Maryland, Baltimore; the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; the University of Maryland, College Park; and Washington College.
