Has your organization reduced its environmental impacts and saved money through energy and water conservation, waste minimization and other environmental best practices? Share your success and gain recognition by applying for a Maryland Green Registry Leadership Award. Applications are due April 26, 2017.

What is the Maryland Green Registry?
The Maryland Green Registry is a free membership program that promotes and recognizes sustainable practices at organizations of all types and sizes across the state. It is not a certification program, but rather a public forum to share environmental best practices that yield both environmental benefits and cost savings. Last year, members reported saving over $104 million through these practices. Businesses and organizations are welcome to join anytime throughout the year.

What are the Maryland Green Leadership Awards?
The annual Leadership Awards are presented to organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable practices, measurable results, and continual improvement. Past winners have typically accomplished this by setting annual goals, tracking results, maintaining active green teams and repeating this process year after year.

Do I have to be a certain type or size of business?
No, not at all! The winning combination of active green teams, annual goals, measurement, and commitment to continual improvement applies equally across all organization types and sizes. Past winners have included colleges, schools, hospitals, and businesses of all sizes.

How do I apply?
Applicants must be a member of the Registry, but it's free, easy to join, and there's plenty of time to become a member before the April 26 awards deadline. Complete the member profile form by sharing at least five environmental practices and one measurable result.

Applying for the award is even easier. You've already shared information through your profile so the application asks for brief responses to two questions that will help draw the attention of the judging panel to your key practices, results and examples of commitment to continuing improvement. How are winners recognized?
Winners will be recognized by Maryland Department of the Environment Secretary Ben Grumbles at the 8th Annual Maryland Green Registry Membership and Awards event on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Governor Calvert Inn in Annapolis.

This networking event is cosponsored by the Maryland Department of Environment and the Maryland Department of Commerce and will be held in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council Maryland and Annapolis Green Drinks. Registration information will be available soon.
