Celebrating company milestones in Maryland

November 30, 2017

It's been a great year for Maryland Commerce, and an even better year for the Maryland business community. I want to thank you all for everything you've done to help make Maryland open for business – our small businesses, large corporations, economic development partners, state agencies, and beyond.

As 2017 comes to an end, join me in honoring the companies celebrating milestone anniversaries throughout the state.

With 135 years, the longest-running milestone in this batch of businesses goes to The Baltimore Life Companies. This Owings Mills-based insurance company has been in business since 1882 and doesn't show signs of stopping anytime soon. Integrity, respect, and making a positive difference are three things that this company holds true to this day.

Next up is Von Paris Moving & Storage celebrating 125 years. The Von Paris story begins with a German immigrant who began his small business in the Baltimore Metropolitan region. Since 1892, this moving and storage company has expanded to five locations in the area and committed their focus to excellence and quality service.

Rounding out the 100+ year milestones is Shepherd Electric Supply, the oldest wholesale electrical distributor in the area. For 125 years, the company has provided the most extensive local inventory and served customers in commercial construction and facilities, lighting, government organizations, and more.

Other anniversaries happening around the state include Bell Flowers in Montgomery County (70 years), Celeste Industries in Talbot County (45 years), and Kelly Generator in Calvert County (25 years). Check out additional celebrations in the below photos.

We'll be back in 2018 with even more anniversaries to come. If your company is celebrating a milestone, be sure to send us an email with the details.
