Now filming in Maryland: Lady in the Lake

Maryland is once again serving as the backdrop to an upcoming television series.

Lady in the Lake, a new limited series from Endeavor Content, will be filming throughout the Baltimore region from April through October. The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by local author Laura Lippman.

The series – which stars Academy Award winners Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o – is expected to have a significant economic impact in Maryland.

To give an idea of the potential impact of an episodic television series, the final season of Netflix’s House of Cards hired more than 1,600 Marylanders and purchased or rented goods or services from more than 1,700 Maryland businesses with an impact that exceeded $100 million.

“With an abundance of distinctive locations to choose from throughout this iconic city, along with having a talented, experienced crew base, Baltimore is the ideal location to shoot this series,” said Todd Sharp, EVP, head of production, and current at Endeavor Content. “We look forward to partnering with Governor Hogan, the Maryland Film Office, and Baltimore Film Office, as we commence production on Lady in the Lake.”

This month also brings the premiere of HBO's new mini series We Own This City, which filmed in Maryland last summer.
