TierPoint, a top provider of IT and data center services in the country, has officially opened its new facility in Linthicum Heights.

The company’s expansion was celebrated at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the 35,000 square foot data center this week. TierPoint, which also has a data center located in Baltimore City, expects to continue growing in Maryland as demand for its services continues.

Tierpoint’s growth in the state and expansion into Anne Arundel County was led by its geographic convenience, said Jim Weller, Vice President. In addition to the new data center needing accessibility and abundant power, it needed to be close to the company’s client base, which ranges from tech companies to the healthcare industry, and from tourist attractions to government agencies. Prior to this expansion, the company had nearly 150 customers in the Baltimore region.

“We like being in the tech corridor – there are a lot of cyber companies in this area. This location gives us a good reach into Washington, D.C., and convenient access to highways, rail, and the airport,” said Weller.

Weller continued saying that because every company has different technology needs, no two TierPoint customers are alike. TierPoint is able to run and house critical data for its clients, whether it is containing a company’s equipment in its secure facility, or providing the infrastructure needed for companies to operate.

“Every business is becoming data intense these days, everything is tech-dependent,” he said.
