$2.5M going towards Maryland’s workforce needs in life sciences

The BioHub Maryland Pathways  program is receiving $2.5 million to help meet the growing workforce needs of Maryland’s life sciences industry.

The program aims to help individuals acquire skills for jobs in the life sciences, offers industry training solutions, and provides hands-on training that allows students to “learn by doing.” It was developed with guidance from the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Maryland Tech Council , and the Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board.

Training programs available through BioHub offer skill sets for biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical manufacturing that are not typically taught in traditional academic settings. Providing these additional opportunities will help many members of Maryland’s workforce join the growing life sciences industry, where various jobs only require a high school diploma, GED, or a two-year associate’s degree.
