The Maryland Department of Commerce is leading a delegation of 11 Maryland companies this week to MEDICA 2018, the world’s largest medical trade show held every year in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is the ninth year that Maryland – through Commerce’s Office of International Investment and Trade – has participated in the global trade show as part of a continuing strategy to boost trade and promote the state to overseas businesses.

Maryland is hosting a 72 square-meter booth with a full island to demonstrate company products and services at the show, which attracts more than 120,000 attendees from 130 countries around the world.

“MEDICA is an opportunity for Maryland's rapidly-growing biotechnology and life science companies to interact on the global stage,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “As our industry continues to expand, it’s paramount for us to once again showcase our assets in front of the world’s top health companies.”

The Maryland companies traveling to MEDICA this year include BC3 Technologies (Baltimore City); BioElectronics Corporation (Frederick County); BondTrue (Baltimore County); EndoMaster Medical Inc. (Prince George’s County); The Hali Group LLC (Baltimore City); IOB Medical (Montgomery County); IZI Medical Products (Baltimore County); PerSoN Clinic (Montgomery County); Steelyard Analytics (Montgomery County); Strouse Corporation (Carroll County); and Tetracore (Montgomery County).

Maryland Commerce recently awarded a series of ExportMD grants to local companies to help them expand into the global marketplace. Several companies in the Maryland delegation are utilizing the grant for the trade show, including Owings Mills-based IZI Medical Products.

“We are delighted to be part of the delegation representing Maryland at MEDICA 2018,” said Shashwat Gupta, product manager of IZI Medical Products. “With help from the ExportMD grant, we are able to showcase our company’s products to a global audience, which will positively impact our growth.”
