4 MAJOR INVESTMENTS AT PORT OF BALTIMORE

With more than $500 million in investment complete or underway, the Port of Baltimore is prepared for a future that accommodates increased shipping volume and improved efficiency. Here are four ways the Port of Baltimore is preparing for next-generation shipping and distribution.

In 2021, the Port of Baltimore introduced its second 50-foot berth to accommodate some of the largest container ships in the world.

Four new Neo-Panamax cranes came online in 2022 along with a recognifigured terminal, preparing the Port of Baltimore for increased import capacity.

Improvements are underway to enable the Howard Street Tunnel to accept double stacked containers traveling from the Port of Baltimore. Upon completion, it will provide the shortest double-stack rail route to the Midwest.

The gate complex  continues to leverage the latest technology, including weigh-in motion scales, creating one of the most efficient turn times in the nation.
