Maryland small businesses receive $2.7M to support business growth

Six small, minority, and veteran-owned businesses in Maryland have received a total of nearly $2.7 million in funding.
The assistance, which comes from the state’s Military Personnel and Veteran-owned Small Business Loan Program and the Maryland Small Business Development Financing Authority, is a combination of business loans and lines of credit to support business growth throughout the state.
The small businesses receiving financial assistance include Brunch House (Glen Burnie); Escape Proving Ground (Pasadena); Interbiome (Rockville); One Leg Up Pets (Laurel); Patuxent Pride Inc. (Columbia); and Sweeten (Baltimore City). Together, with help from these programs, the businesses anticipate creating more than three dozen new jobs and retaining an additional 29 workers in their respective jurisdictions.
“Today I’m proud to announce major financial assistance for six minority and veteran-owned small businesses here in Maryland,” said Governor Wes Moore. “These loans and lines of credit will greatly benefit both these businesses and local communities. This is how we create more opportunity and I’m proud to be getting this done alongside Secretary Anderson.”
