Baltimore’s sky and sea will soon be swarming with sailors and aviators as part of Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show Baltimore, taking place October 3-9. The USAF Thunderbirds will headline the event with flying demonstrations from the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show Baltimore celebrates the rich maritime traditions of the Chesapeake Bay and the contributions of Maryland’s national defense. The week-long event is planned by the Maryland Department of Commerce, Maryland Office of Tourism, Visit Baltimore, and Historic Ships in Baltimore in conjunction with the U.S. Navy. Northrop Grumman Corporation, whose Mission Systems sector is headquartered in Linthicum, is the event's title sponsor.

The event is also scheduled to include a Canadian F-18 demonstration, the GEICO Skytypers (a flight squadron of six vintage WWII aircrafts), a USAF A-10 demonstration, as well as an aerial performance by Scott Francis featuring MXS maneuvers.

Key viewing areas for the air show include Fort McHenry and areas in and around Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Several less crowded public parks provide "peek-a-boo" views of the performance, including Canton Waterfront Park, Riverside Park, Cherry Hill Park, Reed Bird Island Park, and Garrett Park.

Additional activities throughout the week will include on-board public tours of U.S. and International Navy ships and an Inner Harbor festival with hands-on activities, local food and drink, musical acts, and more. Fort McHenry and the Martin State Airport will also be hosting special events for Fleet Week visitors.

Throughout the week-long celebration, visitors can tag photos and share videos on social media platforms using the hashtag #MDfleetweek and #MDairshow. For the latest updates, more information, and a complete list of activities taking place during the event, visit www.mdfleetweek.com.
